It was only a matter of time before Conrad Chisman claimed a boys state golf title.

The Stanwood High School senior finished with a two-round score of 143 to win the Class 3A state championship Wednesday at Hawks Prairie Golf Course – The Links in Lacey.

One other local claimed a state title Wednesday as Jackson freshman Chanyoung Park won the Class 4A girls championship at Creek at Qualchan Golf Course in Spokane.

Chisman, a Seattle University signee, has been knocking at the door for two years, earning top-five finishes in 2022 and 2023, and it was his time this year to take full possession of first place. Chisman sat atop the leaderboard after Tuesday’s first round, shooting a 2-under-par 70. He kept his foot on the gas in the second round on Wednesday, shooting 1-over-par 73, which was just enough to dethrone the defending champion, Ferndale’s Baylor Larrabee, by one stroke.

Snohomish, led by senior Tyson Olds who finished 19th at 153, earned a fourth-place team finish in Class 3A boys. Stanwood tied for sixth.

In the Class 4A girls tournament, Park showcased her abilities, carding a 73 in both rounds to win the title by four strokes. Jackson finished as runner-up to Camas in the team scores.
