EDMONDS — Police arrested an Edmonds man accused early Sunday of killing his husband who was experiencing a violent mental health episode, authorities said.

The incident started as a domestic violence call to police. A man, 47, called authorities to report his husband, 34, was breaking property during a mental health crisis, according to Edmonds police.

The caller reported his husband had a violent episode earlier in the night. To restrain him, the man used a neck restraint, according to police.

After the second episode hours later, the man again used a neck restraint to calm him down. But when officers arrived to the home in the 8800 block of 236th Street SW, they found the 34-year-old husband dead, police said.

Investigators arrested the 47-year-old man for investigation of first-degree manslaughter. He was set to make a first appearance in court Monday afternoon.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased, as well as determine the cause and manner of his death.
