EVERETT — A Lynnwood man is dead after a fatal crash on U.S. 2 near Gold Bar on Friday.

Shortly after 3 p.m. Friday, the Washington State Patrol responded to reports of a vehicle crash at milepost 32, also known as No Name Creek on U.S. 2.

Wyatt J. Ivers, 29, Lynnwood, was reportedly engaged in street racing with another vehicle while driving a blue 2006 Subaru Impreza east on U.S. 2, according to the WSP press release.

Ivers lost control of the Impreza, left the roadway to the right and came to rest in a nearby ditch, the press release said. When emergency responders arrived, Ivers was declared dead at the scene.

Drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash and Ivers was not wearing a seatbelt, the WSP said.

U.S. 2 remained closed for several hours Friday during the crash investigation.
