EVERETT — Sound Transit will close 57 parking spaces at the Lynnwood City Center light rail station for construction until mid-November, Community Transit announced Wednesday.

The closures began Thursday. The parking spaces, located at the south parking lot, are expected to reopen on Nov. 11. The five ADA spaces in the area will remain open, as well as all of the spaces in the station’s parking garage.

The high demand for parking at the station means the massive free parking garage with about 1,700 spots on-site frequently fills up on workdays. Sound Transit has floated the idea of charging drivers $2 a day to park at the site.

Transit agencies recommend taking buses to connect to light rail. Both Community Transit and Sound Transit offer routes that connect Snohomish County cities to light rail stations.
