EVERETT — Cedarcrest Middle School experienced a 3-hour delay Monday morning after a male was found unresponsive nearby.
Early Monday morning, school staff found an unresponsive individual outside on a bench, according to Marysville Police Department spokesperson TJ San Miguel in an email. The individual was not involved with the school.
Around 5:45 a.m., police responded to the incident and attempted life-saving measures. Police believe he died from an overdose of illegal narcotics before being found, San Miguel said.
Around 6:32 a.m., Marysville School District announced the school would be on a delayed schedule due to police activity, according to a social media post. Buses ran their regular routes, but all morning activities were canceled, the post said.
Classes began at 11:15 a.m., according to a school announcement. School will be dismissed at the regular time.
