LYNNWOOD — Detectives are asking witnesses to come forward with information about a crash that preceded sheriff’s deputies shooting a man this week.
The man, 42, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and was in critical condition as of Wednesday evening. The incident is being investigated by the Snohomish Multiple Agency Response Team, known as SMART.
Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies were called to a crash at 144th Street SW and Meadow Road near Martha Lake around 5 a.m. Wednesday.
A man in an SUV allegedly backed into a Camaro on purpose. The drivers started to argue, and the suspect reportedly stabbed the other man. He was treated at the scene.
The SUV driver fled. Deputies chased him at speeds of more than 100 mph on southbound I-5, Highway 520 and Woodinville-Duvall Road.
The SUV went off the road near Woodinville High School. The suspect was shot soon after, according to a news release.
People with information about the initial crash in Lynnwood can call SMART detectives at 425-407-3999. Additional details were not made public Friday.
