Lynnwood police seek woman long missing

LYNNWOOD – Police are calling the disappearance of a Lynnwood woman suspicious and are asking for help in finding her, officials said.

Cynthia Devries, 41, has been missing since May, Lynnwood police spokeswoman Shannon Sessions said.

Police believe the woman was headed to the Marblemount area to visit an ill relative, Sessions said. Devries left her dog and some belongings with a friend in Lynnwood, but she’s not been heard from since.

Devries is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, 110 pounds, with blond hair and a tattoo on her right shoulder and left leg.

Anyone who knows Devries or has information on her whereabouts is asked to call Lynnwood police detective Beth Post at 425-744-6921.

Marysville: Search locks down two schools

Cedarcrest School and Grace Academy were locked down Thursday while police searched the area for two men seen running from a stolen pickup truck.

A Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop the stolen truck about 1:15 p.m. near 69th Avenue NE and 84th Street NE, sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said. The driver stopped in the Cedarcrest Golf Course parking lot and ran from the truck, as did the passenger.

The men hopped a fence bordering Grace Academy. One man ran east and another man ran toward the school area.

Police advised school staff to lock down the building as a precaution. No one saw either man enter the school at any point, Hover said. Cedarcrest School also was locked down as police searched for the men.

A police dog from Monroe tracked one suspect for about 1 1/2 miles before losing the scent. Deputies found a shoe and a shirt believed to belong to one of the men. The suspects were not found.

The schools were reopened about 2:45 p.m.
