PORTLAND, Ore. — The Columbia County Sheriff says a man who fell out of a moving pickup near Scappoose, Ore., died Saturday night, and the truck’s driver has been arrested.
Jeff Dickerson says 26-year-old Nicholas Kay, of Vancouver, Wash., was arrested on charges of criminally negligent homicide and driving under the influence of intoxicants. Kay was booked Sunday into Columbia County Jail.
Dickerson says Kay was driving a white Ford pickup when a male passenger in the bed of the pickup fell out and hit the paved roadway surface.
Scappoose paramedics called to the scene around 6 p.m. found a man in his 30s lying in the road unconscious and were unable to revive him. The man has not been identified.
