LAKEWOOD — The city of Lakewood will not file criminal charges against the driver of a boat that hit a kayaker on American lake, seriously injuring the 14-year-old boy.
A spokesman, Jeff Brewster, told The News Tribune of Tacoma there were no criminal options that would stand up in court. Pierce County prosecutors reached the same decision.
The 34-year-old boat driver was given a $343 ticket Thursday for negligent boating.
The accident on March 1 left Kenny “D.K.” Ross with a ruptured spleen, broken ribs and a gash in his head. After multiple surgeries he recently moved into a nursing home for long-term care.
His father, David Hermansen, says he’s praying for a miracle.
