YAKIMA — A private investigator who pleaded guilty to witness tampering was sentenced Monday in Yakima to five months in jail.

In return for the guilty plea, prosecutors dropped other charges against Stephanie L. Barnes, 38.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reported that Barnes was accused of pressuring a witness in an assault case and trying to get a kidnap victim to change statements made to prosecutors.
