Causing fear does, in fact, hurt others

For all you people who say “he” didn’t hurt anyone, I have something to say. When there is someone in your neighborhood who is breaking into houses for whatever reason, stealing from you or just being a general nuisance, you think about that person everytime you lock your house. You think about that person every time you lock your car. You think about that person every time it gets dark outside and you are worried about going outside.

If you were one of the unlucky souls whose home was broken into or worse, you were confronted by an unwanted someone in your house, don’t you think your life is disrupted for a long, long time every time you leave or come home? If you don’t think he hurt anyone then you’re pretty insulated from the real world. Why do you think as people get older they put more locks on their doors and are more scared to leave home?

It is people like Colton Harris-Moore who make life a little more unreasonable for the honest people. Like every time you fly now, you waste two hours each way instead of getting there early because of 9/11. We are all paying for those who came before us and wreak havoc on their fellow human beings, Colton included!

Feel sorry for Colton if you will, although there are lots of individuals who grew up under the same conditions and “turned out just fine” in spite of their parenting. In fact, those of you who think he needs a hug and cookies, you may have plenty of time to visit him while we support him in jail.
