Hockey Canada tabs Silvertips coach Williams again

Dennis Williams has been named to the coaching staff for Canada’s men’s U-18 summer development camp.

EVERETT — Dennis Williams is being summoned by Hockey Canada once again.

Hockey Canada announced Thursday that the Everett Silvertips’ head coach and interim general manager has been named to the coaching staff for its men’s under-18 summer development camp, which takes place July 25-Aug. 4 at the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex on Tsuut’ina Nation near Calgary, Alberta.

Williams has prior coaching involvement with Hockey Canada, serving as head coach for one of Canada’s three teams at the 2018 U-17 World Hockey Challenge, as well as an assistant for Canada’s U-18 team for the Hlinka Gretzky Cup each of the past two years.

In a normal year the development camp would help Hockey Canada select its team for the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. However, Canada is not taking part in this year’s event, which is scheduled for Aug. 2-7 in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, because of the coronavirus pandemic.
