Holt posts shutout, Silvertips blank Winterhawks

PORTLAND — Braden Holt stopped all 22 shots he faced and Jonny Lambos’ first goal of the season was enough to lead the Everett Silvertips to a 1-0 win over the Portland Winterhawks on Saturday night at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

The win was Everett’s sixth straight to open the Western Hockey League season and the shutout was Holt’s second of the young campaign so far.

Lambos scored on assists from Austin Roest and Ben Hemmerling at 17:27 in the first period.

Everett (6-0-0-0) outshot the Winterhawks 26-22 and both teams killed both power plays they faced in the game.

Lochlan Gordon made 25 saves for Portland (3-4-0-1).

The game was the second in two nights for the U.S. Division rivals. Everett beat Portland 5-2 on Friday night.

The two teams meet again this coming Friday in Everett.
