James Hurt

Bad news for the Huskies as running back Kenny James seems to be pretty injured on the sideline. He limped off the field with right foot or ankle injury and is not able to put weight on it as I see him on the sideline. That would leave the game in Louis Rankin’s hands, with Shelton Sampson as the backup. Those guys can really run but aren’t the physical back that James is, and they’ve had trouble hanging onto the ball, and if there’s one thing Washington can’t do it’s turn the ball over.

Cal’s defense is really, really fast. There were a couple plays on the last possession I thought the UW would get some good yardage on but the Bears really closed fast. That may mean Washington needs some inside running, which is where the loss of James hurts.
