Prep boys basketball: Kamiak 59, Snohomish 56

EVERETT — Kamiak scored seven points in the last minute, and Snohomish committed two turnovers and missed a late 3-point attempt, as the Knights rallied for a dramatic comeback victory in a loser-out District 1 tournament game at Everett Community College.

Junior wing Gavin Patrick, who scored a game-high 21 points, converted a back-door layin with 27 seconds to play for the go-ahead field goal, and teammate Chance Lord dropped in two free throws with 12 seconds on the clock, pushing the margin to three points.

Inside the last 45 seconds, the Panthers threw a pass out of bounds and committed a traveling violation.

With the victory, Kamiak advances to a 4:45 p.m. Thursday game against Cascade for the chance to play Thursday’s Jackson-Monroe loser at 2 p.m. Saturday in a winner-to-state, loser-out game for second place in the district.

Zak Carlson had 20 points for Snohomish and teammate Kobe McDaniel added 16.
