Vote for The Herald’s Athlete of the Week for Sept. 23-29

The Athlete of the Week nominees for Sept. 23-29. Voting closes at midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced on next week’s Prep Focus page in The Herald. Each weekly winner will be included in an Athlete of the Month poll.

Arianna Bilby| Arlington | Volleyball

Bilby, a senior outside hitter, recorded 18 kills, 13 digs and two blocks to help the Eagles to a 3-2 victory in a Wesco 3A/2A match Sept. 24 at Edmonds-Woodway.

Dawson Coe and Jake Sulya | Marysville Pilchuck | Boys Tennis

Coe and Sulya won a marathon third-set super tiebreaker 22-20 at No. 2 doubles during a Wesco 3A North match Wednesday at Stanwood. Coe and Sulya played four matches in four days last week and won all four.

Domonique Gadbois | Granite Falls | Girls Soccer

Gadbois, a senior, scored all four of the Tigers’ goals Saturday in a 4-2 non-conference win over Meridian.

Darius Hacking | Monroe | Football

Hacking, a senior linebacker, returned an interception 26 yards for a touchdown and recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for another score in the Bearcats’ 49-7 win over Mariner on Friday.

Kayli Kersavage | Snohomish | Girls Diving

Kersavage, a junior, won the diving competition at the Mukilteo Invitational on Saturday at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. Her score of 435.75 was 104.75 points ahead of her nearest competitor.

Jasmine Nguyen | Marysville Getchell | Girls Cross Country

Nguyen, a junior, was the top local girls finisher in the Varsity Division 1 race Saturday at the Nike Portland Invite in Fairview, Oregon. Nguyen finished ninth, covering the 5,000 meters in 19 minutes, 12.2 seconds.

Ryann Reynolds | Glacier Peak | Girls Soccer

Reynolds, a freshman forward, scored two goals and dished out two assists in the Grizzlies’ 5-1 win over Jackson on Sept. 24. GP’s victory snapped the Timberwolves’ 17-match Wesco 4A unbeaten streak.

Alan Sepulveda | Lakewood | Football

Sepulveda, a senior, kicked a school-record 44-yard field goal in the Cougars’ 27-0 victory over Sedro-Woolley on Friday. He also hit a 33-yarder and made three extra points.

Jasett Smith | Snohomish | Volleyball

Smith, a sophomore outside hitter/opposite/middle blocker, recorded 11 kills, 20 digs, two blocks and two aces Thursday in the Panthers’ sweep of Meadowdale in a Wesco 3A/2A match.

Jacob Willcox | Edmonds-Woodway | Boys Cross Country

Willcox, a senior, was the top local boys finisher in the Varsity Division 1 race Saturday at the Nike Portland Invite. Wilcox finished fourth, covering the 5,000-meter course in 16:16.9.
