MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — Farmers market enthusiasts can soon look forward to shopping in downtown Mountlake Terrace for farm fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, honey and other local farm products.

A ribbon cutting will open the city’s first farmers market at 2:30 p.m., May 6.

The market, positioned on the 58th Avenue West public right-of-way, from 232nd Street Southwest to the entrance of the Civic Campus, will operate from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursdays through September.

At its April 19 meeting, the City Council approved an agreement with the Mountlake Terrace Business Association for the farmers market to be a weekly event.

Premera Blue Cross, the city’s largest employer, donated $5,000 in support of the market.
