Cheaper by the dozen: The Seattle Seahawks will begin phasing out use of “12th Man” to refer to fans under terms of a new licensing agreement with Texas A&M University, which holds the trademark on the phrase. Instead, the Seahawks have trademarked the number 12.(In Our View).

Any use of this number without the express written consent of the Seahawks is prohibited.

Don’t know much about history: On this day in 1969, the Woodstock Music and Arts Fair opened in upstate New York (Today in History).

The festival, with performances by music legends Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and Sha Na Na, was attended by more than 400,000 fans. But ask any boomer and all 74.9 million will say they were there. In 1965 on this day, The Beatles played to 55,000 in New York’s Shea Stadium; they were all there, too.
