Winter classes: See what classes are coming up through the Everett branch of The Mountaineers at 7 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Drewel Building, 3000 Rockefeller, Everett. Representatives from the alpine scrambling, avalanche, back-country skiing, climbing, cross-country skiing, and snow-shoeing courses will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.
Wolverines: Keith Aubry, a scientist with the U.S. Forest Service’s Pacific Northwest Research Station, will present the latest information on the status of wolverines in Washington at 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Northwest Stream Center at McCollum Park in Everett. Aubry will present wolverine images showing their habits and habitat requirements, and share his “nose to nose” tales about this very secretive animal. Habitat Stewards: The National Wildlife Federation is offering habitat stewards training beginning Nov. 5 in Everett. Training runs through Nov. 19. Volunteers help the community create, preserve, enhance, and restore wildlife habitat. The training includes topics ranging from native plant identification to creating a personal backyard wildlife sanctuary at your home. Guided walk: Take a walk through Cama Beach State Park at 9:50 a.m. Nov. 7. Total mileage will be approximately 3 miles with some up and down portions. Shuttles will be available for those wishing to ride back. Walking back adds 1.4 miles to the hike. Hike lasts about 2 hours. Meet at Ivy Road and Dry Lake Road junction. Birds: Learn how to attract birds to your winter garden at 11 a.m. Dec. 5 at Lil’ Sprout Nursery, 17414 Bothell Everett Highway, Mill Creek. Free.
Warren Miller: Chasing Shadows, the latest Warren Miller ski and snowboard film, will play at the Historic Everett Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19. Get tickets at http://bit.ly/1MwS8B5. Attendees get free lift tickets to ski areas in the Northwest.
