Wacky characters comically collide in “Farce of Habit,” showing through Aug. 26 at the Historic Everett Theatre.

The comedy, staged by Outcast Productions, is set in the Reel ‘Em Inn, which bills itself as the finest little fishing lodge in the Ozarks. The proprietor, D. Gene Wilburn (played by Curt Shriner) is looking forward to a peaceful weekend on the lake, but the lunacy of his family and guests makes that nearly impossible.

His wife, Wanelle (Sam Samano), white-knuckles her way through caffeine withdrawal. Their son, Ty (Randy Yamanaka), wears French can-can dancer costumes, straining his marriage to wife Jenna (Yvonne Belez). And Wilburn’s feisty sister, Maxie (Laura Shriner), is caught up in a bizarre police assignment.

If his family wasn’t annoying enough, Wilburn deals with other weird and wacky guests, who include a gaggle of nuns hellbent on experiencing a nature retreat, an egotistical “relationship guru” (Rick Calhoun) who threatens everyone’s sanity, a shy retiree (Pat Reagan) anxious to cut loose and embrace his “inner caveman,” and a couple of wild women (Iris Lilly and Debbie Johnson-Morgan) who may or may not be who they claim to be.

To make matters worse, Wilburn has no prayer of baiting a hook any time soon because the storm of the century is bearing down on Mayhew, Arkansas.

Oh, and there’s an axe murderer on the loose.
