Snohomish County University women’s basketball addendum

In Wednesday’s paper we ran my column on the Snohomish County University women’s basketball team, a hypothetical team comprised of current college players who graduated from Snohomish County high schools. It’s an impressive group, and I made the argument that the Snohomish County team was good enough to be an NCAA tournament team.
Along with that story I asked readers to chime in with any players I may have missed, and there have been a few. So here’s some additional candidates for the Snohomish County team (stats through Wednesday):
Samantha Romanowski
College: Denver
Height: 5-foot-9
Year: Senior
Position: Guard
High School: Mountlake Terrace
Key stats: 12.0 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, 6.2 assists per game
The lowdown: Romanowski has been a quality player for the Pioneers for four seasons, and this season she’s gone off for as many as 33 points in a game, so she’d definitely be on the team. And although the backcourt on the team is stacked, one can at least argue that Romanowski, as a true point guard, belongs in the starting lineup.
Jaydnn Alexander
College: Hawaii
Year: Sophomore
Position: Guard
High School: Monroe
Key stats: 3.5 points per game
The lowdown: Alexander doesn’t get a ton of playing time for the Rainbow Wahine, but she would provide additional backcourt depth for the Snohomish County team.
Taya Corosdale
College: Oregon State
Year: Sophomore
Position: Forward
High School: Bothell
Key stats: 6.8 points per game, 7.2 rebounds per game
The lowdown: Whether Corosdale should be eligible for the Snohomish County team is up for debate. In the story I said the players were from Snohomish County schools, and Bothell is in King County. However, the City of Bothell straddles the county line, and I’m told Corosdale resides on the Snohomish County side. So what do you think, should she be eligible? If she is, Corosdale is probably a starter as she’s currently starting for a ranked Beavers team.
