The Athlete of the Week nominees for Jan. 6-12. Voting closes at midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced on next week’s Prep Focus page. Each weekly winner will be included in an Athlete of the Month poll.
Jessie Brambach| Cascade | Bowling
Brambach rolled a 225 game and a 395 series as the Bruins defeated Mount Vernon 2-1 Thursday at Riverside Lanes in Mount Vernon.
Hailey Hiatt | Arlington | Girls Basketball
Hiatt, a junior guard, tied the school record with nine 3-point field goals and finished with 29 points as the Eagles beat Mountlake Terrace 80-21 in a Wesco 3A/2A matchup Jan. 7.
Alex Jensen | Lakewood | Boys Basketball
Jensen, a senior guard, scored 31 points in an 88-72 win over Mount Baker on Friday to become the Cougars’ all-time leading scorer. Jensen, who had 1,115 career points going into Monday night’s game, is also Lakewood’s all-time leader in steals with 180.
Justin Limberg | Jackson | Boys Swimming
Limberg, a senior, swam the 200 individual medley for the first time in his career and posted a state-qualifying time of 1 minute, 57.33 seconds in the Timberwolves’ 127-52 win over Shorewood on Jan. 7.
Isaac Poole | Shorewood | Boys Diving
Poole, a senior, won the diving competition at the Kentridge Invitational on Saturday at the King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way. He set a meet record with 517.9 points, topping the previous meet record by 23.55 points.
Tyler Rhue | Stanwood | Boys Wrestling
Rhue, a freshman, pinned all four of his opponents en route to the 106-pound championship Saturday at the Panther Classic at Snohomish High School.
Chanel Siva | Stanwood | Girls Wrestling
Siva, a senior, won the 235-pound weight class Saturday at the Kelso Girls Tournament. She pinned Goddess Ma’alona-Faletogo of Thomas Jefferson in the championship match. The contest was a rematch of last season’s 235-pound state-title bout.
