Cali can be independent at times and at other times she is a mighty little hunter. She likes to hunt toy mice and balls. When she isn’t hunting she enjoys laying in a warm sunny spot. (Arleigh Movitz/Everett Animal Shelter)
The Everett Animal Shelter hosts thousands of stray and unwanted animals every year. Some are adopted right away, but some sit in the shelter for weeks at a time, waiting for a home. The shelter has dogs and cats, as well as some rabbits and birds, all looking for a loving home.
Big guy Cooper is looking for a quiet home. He’d like cat trees to climb, boxes to sleep in, and toys to play with – especially the interactive types like wand toys. Cooper loves to play with people and if you ask him to, he’ll stretch way up tall against your leg! (Arleigh Movitz/Everett Animal Shelter)
Ginger is a beautiful, independent cat who is looking for a new home. She’s lived with children as young as three years old since she was a kitten so she is certainly used to their antics! Dogs are okay with Ginger, too, but not all cats. A very slow introduction to any resident pets will ease the transition for everyone. Like many cats, she does not enjoy being put in a carrier so we recommend you set it out a few days before any travel with some delicious treats inside. Ginger is one smart cookie, but it might work! She’s a little shy but she’s very sweet and playful…meet Yui! Her favorite toys are string toys and she likes to keep her nails in shape on cardboard or carpeted scratching posts. Yui doesn’t care for dogs but cats are okay if she gets to know them slowly. Yui can’t wait to curl up in your lap and be your friend. (Arleigh Movitz/Everett Animal Shelter)
Shelby seems to be an independent gal who likes to choose when to share affection. Just like many people, Shelby doesn’t appreciate being surprised and prefers a quiet environment. She is really fond of gentle petting and likes to perch up high. (Arleigh Movitz/Everett Animal Shelter)
Q is looking for a quiet home. She’d like cat trees to climb, boxes to sleep in, and toys to play with – especially the interactive types like wand toys. Q likes to pretend she is shy by hiding under blankets, but she’s really quite lovey-dovey! (Arleigh Movitz/Everett Animal Shelter)
Odin is a playful guy who likes toy mice and laser pointers. Odin loves to hide in the lower cabinets and find unusual hiding areas to take his naps in. He enjoys the company of both cats and dogs but will still need to have a gradual introduction to all resident pets. (Arleigh Movitz/Everett Animal Shelter)
Kathleen is looking for a quiet home. She’d like cat trees to climb, boxes to sleep in, and toys to play with – especially the interactive types like wand toys. Kathleen loves to snuggle up in a comfy, warm lap. (Arleigh Movitz/Everett Animal Shelter)
Sparkle is a lovely hound dog that is very friendly and loves everyone. She is a hound dog mix so anyone looking at her should know they have a powerful sense of smell and great speed. Hounds are used to having lots of energy and a job. Sparkle has shown us that she needs lots of room to burn off her energy. She will need a secured fenced yard and no apartments. She will need some obedience training and a meet and greet with any resident dogs. She may chase cats, so a proper introduction with a dog savvy cat would be needed.
