Washington corrections officer shoots, wounds fugitive

TACOMA — A state Department of Corrections officer has shot and wounded a fugitive wanted on a federal warrant.

DOC spokesman Chad Lewis says details are sketchy but that the shooting occurred in Pierce County. The fugitive then drove away and was eventually arrested in Tacoma.

The identities of the officer and the fugitive have not been released.
