Eagle Scout project honors veterans
Arlington High School senior Ryan Guentz recently completed his Eagle Scout project.
The project involved creating seven flagpole holders for the Veterans Memorial at Arlington’s Legion Park.
The decorative granite stone toppers will allow American Legion Post 76, based in Arlington, to post the colors for each of the U.S. military branches: Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines, as well as Merchant Marines and the POW/MIA flags.
Ryan started in the Boy Scouts as a Tiger Cub 13 years ago. He is enrolled in the automotive program at Sno-Isle Tech Center, said his father, Matt Guentz.
“This project had been in the works for months,” he said.
Ryan also has played in band since sixth grade and participated in bowling tournaments at the state level.
Martial arts master honored
Hud Huddleston Sr. was inducted in July into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame as master instructor. Huddleston is a longtime Everett martial arts school director.
