What’s on November ballots in south Snohomish County

South Snohomish County will have a full ballot for the Nov. 3 general election.
Local ballots include five council positions in Edmonds, four each in Lynnwood and Brier, three in Mountlake Terrace and two in Woodway; the mayor of Edmonds, four positions on the Edmonds School District board; two places each on the Fire District 1 board, the Alderwood Water and Wastewater District board the Ronald Wastewater District board, the Verdant Health Commission board and the Edmonds Port Commission; one place on the Olympic View Water District Board; and a Brier advisory vote on banning fireworks.
Voters also face a tax measure for Community Transit, two statewide initiatives four state advisory votes and elections for county executive, county assessor, county auditor, county clerk; county sheriff, county treasurer, the county council position representing Edmonds, Woodway, Lynnwood and the rest of council district 3; three places on the county charter review commission representing council district 3, and three more representing Mountlake Terrace, Brier, Bothell and the rest of district 4.
Ballot order for the general election follows either the order of finish in the Aug. 4 primary ballot or the county’s lot draw.

Initiative Measure No. 1366
Initiative Measure No. 1366 concerns state taxes and fees. This measure would decrease the sales tax rate unless the legislature refers to voters a constitutional amendment requiring two-thirds legislative approval or voter approval to raise taxes, and legislative approval for fee increases.

Initiative Measure No. 1401 concerns trafficking of animal species threatened with extinction. Transit and Mobility Improvement 0.3% Sales and Use Tax Funding
The Board of Directors of the Snohomish County Public Transportation Benefit Area Corporation (Community Transit) adopted Resolution No. 08-15, concerning the imposition of an additional sales and use tax. This proposition would authorize an additional sales-and-use tax of three-tenths of one percent (0.3%) to fund operating, maintenance, and capital improvements to the existing system. These improvements would include more bus trips and better connections, operation of a second line of Swift bus rapid transit between Boeing/Paine Field and Canyon Park, and new service to current and emerging job, retail, and educational growth centers, including connections to the future regional light rail network.
