Man injured after his motorcyle is struck by car on I-5

SMOKEY POINT — A Camano Island man was seriously injured late Saturday after a car struck his motorcycle along I-5.

The 54-year-old man was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett where he was in fair condition Sunday afternoon, according to the hospital.

The man was driving north on I-5 when a 2014 Ford Focus crossed two lanes and struck his 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The 38-year-old man driving the Ford was not hurt and quickly pulled over onto the highway’s shoulder. The driver, who lives in Arlington, was booked into jail for investigation of vehicular assault. He is believed to have been driving under the influence, the patrol said.
