Outdoor movie
Join the Marysville Parks, Culture and Recreation department for its final outdoor movie of the season, 9 p.m. Saturday at Jennings Park Lions Pavilion, 6915 Armar Road.
The final film is “The Karate Kid,” about a bullied teen who learns self-defense from martial arts teacher Mr. Miyagi. The 1984 movie is rated PG. This is a free event.

English learning
Practice English at ESL Talk Time from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 2330 58th Ave. W.
Adults can practice the language in a friendly and supportive setting. Volunteers lead the free lesson.

Car show
More than 100 vehicles from local car clubs are expected at the Hot Rods and Muscle Car Show from 3 to 7 p.m. Aug. 14 at 7909 Evergreen Way in Everett.
Classic car owners are encouraged to enter. Pre-registration is required and costs $15. Entrance is free to spectators.

OPPORTUNITY
College for adults
Edmonds Community College hosts classes for adults through the Creative Retirement Institute. Courses in the arts, humanities and sciences are taught by experienced instructors.
Each class is about two hours long, once a week for up to a month with no tests or homework. Registration for fall opens Aug. 15. The quarter is from Sept. 23 to Dec. 13. HEADS UP
Bear sightings
More bears than usual have been spotted this season at campgrounds in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.
The U.S. Forest Service is reminding visitors to keep food secure and to not feed the animals, even if they appear tame. Bears who are fed and become too comfortable around humans may need to be euthanized.
If you do encounter a bear: Never run, remain calm, talk to it softly and calmly so it knows you’re human, face the bear as you back away slowly, watch for changes in behavior such as flattened ears and vocalizations, make yourself big by holding arms above your head if it continues to approach. Carry and know how to properly use bear spray.
To report a non-emergency bear problem, call the Department of Fish and Wildlife at 425-775-1311, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. If the offices are closed, call law enforcement.

Everett High reunion
The Everett High School class of 1969 will have a 50th reunion from 6 to 11 p.m. Aug. 24, at the Everett Golf and Country Club.
Cost is $65 for buffet dinner and no-host bar.
