Awards and BBQ
Celebrate the nominees of this year’s City of Lake Stevens Cascade Awards, and find out who the winner is, from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 25 at Willard Wyatt County Park, 10508 Chapel Hill Road, Lake Stevens. The awards are hosted by the Snohomish Conservation District.
The party is in conjunction with a barbecue hosted by the North Cascades Crew, to celebrate the volunteers and donors who have helped build the Joe Rantz Boathouse near Wyatt Park.
School supplies will be collected for local schools. Raffle prizes also will be up for grabs. Proceeds go to North Cascades Crew programs.

Dance to raise money
Join the Stillaguamish Senior Center for its Blue Grass Boogie fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 28, at the center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd.
The Cliff Perry Band is scheduled to play.
Dinner will be served, along with a beer and wine bar. Tickets are $25 for members, $30 for non-members. Raffle tickets will be sold for more than 30 prizes.

Movie discussion
Join Snohomish for Equity to watch and discuss the movie “13th” — a documentary about the U.S. prison system and how it’s linked to the nation’s history of racial inequality.
Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Snohomish High School Performing Arts Center, 1316 Fifth St., Snohomish. Admission is free and recommended for those ages 16 and older.

South Asia festival
Celebrate the cultures of India, Bangladesh, Tibet, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Pakistan on Saturday at Willis D. Tucker Community Park.
The event known as Utsav Mela features cultural shows, children’s activities and south Asian food. It is being hosted by Utsav USA with the support of Snohomish and King counties.

Free clothing
Everybody’s Closet is set to open again from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Advent Lutheran Church in Mill Creek.
The event at at 4306 132nd St. SE offers free clothing to all members of the community in a party-like setting. Enjoy coffee and treats while filling a shopping bag.
This event is sponsored by members of the Carl Gipson Senior Center of Everett, the Senior Center Foundation and Advent Lutheran Church. All are welcome.
Electronic pop concert
Electronic pop singer Alexis Donn’s benefit concert for postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), a rare debilitating medical condition, is at 5 p.m. Saturday at Cafe Zippy, 1502 Rucker Ave., Everett.
Donations will go to Dysautonomia International, a nonprofit focused on POTS research and education.
