Music project moves
The Snohomish County Music Project is preparing a Sept. 6 grand opening reception at its new location in downtown Everett. The nonprofit is moving its music programs for youth, veterans and other groups to 1702 Pacific Ave. from its space at the Everett Mall.
A celebration with live music and refreshments is planned there from 4 to 7 p.m., with a presentation at 5:30 p.m. Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin and other dignitaries are expected to attend.
The Music Project will continue to offer the same services at the new building.

Climate change leadership
Snohomish County Public Works employees have been invited to share their knowledge on the impacts of climate change during the annual American Public Works Association (APWA) national conference Public Works Expo (PWX) next month in Seattle.
The conference is scheduled Sept. 8-11, with more than 5,000 public works employees expected to attend from around the nation.
“Having the national conference in our own backyard is an amazing opportunity for our staff to share our expertise with other Public Works professionals,” Snohomish County Public Works director Steve Thomsen said.

New Sky Valley Food Bank hours
Beginning Sept. 4, the Sky Valley Food Bank will be open during the following times: Mondays from 9 to 11:30 a.m.; Wednesdays from 4 to 6:30 p.m. and Fridays from 9 to 11:30 a.m.
These hours will last through fall and winter.

Tidy up a school
The Northshore School District welcomes neighbors to help clean up a nearby school during its annual Community Serve Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.
The district expects more than 2,500 volunteers to prepare 26 different schools for the coming school year by weeding, mulching, painting and setting up classrooms. Northshore Community Church and local PTAs are supporting the effort.

MEETING
Lighthouse festival planning
Join the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival team to plan the 2019 event and learn about volunteer opportunities, 7 p.m. Thursday at the Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce, 4902 76th St. SW.
This year’s Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival is Sept. 6–8. All three days there will be a kids’ play area, food vendors and local artists selling their creations. A beer garden will be open Friday and Saturday.
