Car toys
The Hot Wheels Legends Tour will be rolling into Everett from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Walmart Supercenter, 11400 Highway 99.
The traveling show will have cars big and small, plus games for kids and prizes. Get up close and personal with the fleet of Hot Wheels life-size vehicles from the Hot Wheels garage.
The free event is one of 18 stops across the country, as Mattel searches for the next great custom hot rod to turn into next year’s featured Hot Wheels die-cast toy car of the year. The winner of the event Saturday will advance to the SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas later this year, where their life-size custom car will compete against all 18 tour winners.
Park naming
Join the City of Snohomish and the Tulalip Tribes to celebrate the naming of Pilchuck Julia Landing, a 19-acre park on the Snohomish River. The ceremony starts 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at 20 Lincoln Ave., Snohomish.
The name honors Pilchuck Julia, a woman with ties to the Tulalip Tribes who lived on the Snohomish River around the turn of the 20th century. There will be a traditional indigenous blessing by the tribes, along with drumming and singing.

Banjo concert
Clawhammer banjoist Ken Perlman plays at the Camano Center Stage Concert Series, 7 p.m. Sept. 11, at the Camano Center, 606 Arrowhead Road.
Perlman has been teaching the American Banjo Camp on the Olympic Peninsula for several years. At the center, he’ll play alongside guitarist David Cahn. Tickets are on sale now for $20 at www.eventbrite.com, or by calling the center.

Rosehill closed four days
Rosehill Community Center will be closed Aug. 26 to 29 for annual maintenance. There will be no classes, meetings or events scheduled or booked during that four-day period.

Census employees descend
Address canvassing in Washington state is now underway in preparation for the 2020 Census.
As part of the canvassing process, Census Bureau employees known as listers are now walking Washington neighborhoods to verify select residential addresses. Address canvassing is a separate operation from the actual count, which is set for March.
Listers are identifiable by official Census Bureau badges. Anybody contacted as part of address canvassing may request a second form of government-issued photo ID from listers. Residents also may call 800-923-8282 to confirm the identity of a Census Bureau employee.
