Christmas tree recycling
Everett Community College is collecting Christmas trees to recycle for no charge from Jan. 2 to 31.
They may be dropped off from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the campus, 2000 Tower St., Everett.
Bring trees to the marked location in parking lot F. A map of the campus can be found at EverettCC.edu/Maps.
Trees must be free of decorations, tinsel and other nonbiodegradable materials. Flocked trees will not be accepted.
EvCC has been recycling trees since 2009. Last year, more than 250 trees were collected. They’re then turned into mulch for campus flowerbeds and gardens.

Give blood in Marysville
Bloodworks Northwest will be outside the Marysville Police Department on Dec. 30.
Anyone who is in good health, is at least 18 years old and weighs at least 110 pounds is eligible to donate.
Representatives from Bloodworks Northwest will be at the department building from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., but the building will be closed from noon to 1 p.m. The police station is at 1635 Grove St.

Join a city of Everett board or commission
There are 10 immediate openings on city of Everett boards and commissions, and you could fill one.
Commission and board seats are chances for residents to inform City Council members about issues in the city.
All positions are volunteer. Most commissions and boards meet once a month.
“The work isn’t always easy, but it makes a positive difference by contributing to our community in a meaningful way,” a description says.
The Diversity Advisory Board has five open seats. The Senior Center Advisory Board, Transportation Advisory Committee, Citizens Advisory Board, Civil Service Commission and Library Board each have one open spot.

Talk with Monroe school leaders
The Monroe School District Board of Directors is hosting its second community conversation of the school year at 6 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Park Place Middle School library, 1408 W. Main St., Monroe.
Parents and others with ties to the school are invited to talk with school leaders and the district superintendent in a casual setting, where questions and feedback are welcome.
Those who won’t be able to make the meeting may send comments and questions to the Monroe School District board of directors any time at schoolboard@monroe.wednet.edu.
