EVERETT — Police were searching this week for a woman they believe shot and killed a man in an apparent domestic incident at an Everett apartment complex earlier this month.
Just after 5:20 a.m. June 10, Everett police responded after a neighbor reported hearing shuffling and then “three pops” at an apartment complex at 2619 Baker Ave, according to Everett police. The neighbor reportedly told officers the residents of the unit were moving out and believed something may have fallen. Investigators were unable to get in contact with the apartment’s occupants.
A few hours later, the same neighbor reportedly found a bullet hole in their home. About the same time, a person a half block away from the complex also reported their car had been hit by a bullet sometime overnight, police said.
Officers went in the apartment and found a deceased man with apparent gunshot wounds. Everett police identified him Wednesday as Christopher Wilson, 31.
On Wednesday, detectives identified their primary suspect as Shawntea Grimes Hamilton, 29. Police are asking the public for help locating her. Investigators believe Hamilton and Wilson were in a romantic relationship, Everett police officer Ora Hamel said.
The suspect was last seen fleeing the scene in a blue-gray Chevrolet Cobalt, license plate DDX0262. She is 5-foot-4, 150 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, according to police.
Hamel said investigators believe they have probable cause to arrest Hamilton for second-degree murder.
Major Crimes detectives notified the public about the case Wednesday, 11 days later.
Releasing information to the public was delayed due to investigators’ concerns that the suspect would flee, Hamel said.
Everett police say to direct information to their tip line at 425-257-8450.
