Suspected hit and run crash on I-5 near Marysville leaves 1 dead

MARYSVILLE — A suspected hit and run crash Wednesday morning left a pedestrian dead on I-5 north near Marysville.

Between 7 and 7:30 a.m., authorities responded to reports of a body on the right shoulder of I-5 just south of mile post 199, Washington State Patrol trooper Kelsey Harding said.

State troopers were unsure when exactly the crash occurred. Authorities also had no description of the vehicle suspected of hitting the woman.

State patrol identified the deceased as Gina Blatchford of Marysville. She was 35.

Obtaining details of the crash proved tough for investigators as rain washed away evidence on the road, Harding said.

Two right lanes on I-5 north were closed while troopers investigated. By 11 a.m., the roads were cleared.
