Everett Municipal Building to close for two weeks

EVERETT — Everett’s city municipal building will be closed for two weeks starting Monday.
The building is set to reopen on June 15. The closure is necessary for the Snohomish County Public Utility District to perform infrastructure upgrades and to replace the building’s air conditioning system.
During the closure, city services will still be available online, by phone or from alternate locations.
The city took on the $36 million repair project to fix a number of issues with the building’s electrical systems, HVAC system and elevators. Built in 1980, many parts of the municipal building were never replaced and were more than 20 years past their safe, usable lifespan, city facilities staff previously said. Construction began in 2024.
The project is still on track to be completed in the second half of 2025, city spokesperson Simone Tarver wrote in an email. In early 2026, the city plans to move administrative staff from the public works department into the building, making it “a true one stop shop for our residents,” Tarver wrote.
