EVERETT — A third suspect connected to the death of Irah Sok made her first appearance in court for a 2022 home invasion in Everett.
Around noon Wednesday, members of the Snohomish County Violent Offender Task Force arrested Keilani Rae Songcuan, 24, in a Renton parking lot and booked her into Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, burglary, robbery and theft, according to the Snohomish County press release.
In a hearing Thursday, Snohomish County Superior Court Judge Miguel Duran found probable cause to hold Songcuan on the allegations and set her preliminary bail at $1 million.
Around 3 a.m. Aug. 19, 2022, three armed suspects kicked in the front door of Sok’s home in the 2600 block of 96th Street SE, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. They went to the second floor and into the bedroom where Sok and her husband were sleeping. One suspect shot her as her child, 7, was next to her. The suspects zip-tied her husband on the floor.
The suspects ransacked the house and stole thousands of dollars’ worth of belongings, according to the sheriff’s office.
The trio fled. Sok’s husband ran to the house of a neighbor, who called 911. Songcuan is the alleged driver for the suspects.
Sok was 36. She owned a photo studio in Mill Creek.
In August 2024, a federal grand jury indicted Kevin Thissel, 28, and Christopher Johnson, 23, for their roles in the home invasion. The two were accused of robberies and kidnappings between Kent and Mount Vernon between March and December 2022, according to court documents filed in U.S. District Court in Seattle.
According to the indictment, Thissel and Johnson would target Asian American families and commit robberies between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. They would kick in doors and windows while also disabling security cameras.
Both remain in federal custody, a press release said.
