Everett foundation awards $60,700 in scholarships

The Everett Public Schools Foundation recently announced its scholarship recipients for the graduating class of 2018 from Everett, Cascade, Jackson and Sequoia high schools. Scholarships are derived from invested funds set up in memory or honor of many individuals and groups by their families and friends and from community and business partners.

New this year was a Superintendent’s Scholar Finalist Award, funded by Gary and Sue Cohn. Gary Cohn is superintendent of the Everett School District. The $1,000 scholarships were awarded to an outstanding teen from each high school: Thi Viet Vu, Cascade; Elizabeth Dowdle, Everett; Sriharshita Musunuri, Jackson; and Jaqueline Talavera Cruz, Sequoia.

Alice Mellema Scholarship Endowment: Steven Gomez, Connor Clementson, Cecilia Gonzalez, Hao Phap and Melissa Pickens, all from Everett High ($900 each)

Banner Bank AVID Awards: Amane Ahmed, Jaylin Baah-Yeboah, Martha Davila-Jimenez, Theodrist Davis, Karmina Gomez, Sabrina Kaifa, Marina Kapor Prije, Shawn Kirksey, D’Andrea Koduah, Itzel Olivera, Lauren Porter, Hailey Stapp, Aidan Stewart, Genesis Talamantes and Johana Velazques Santiago, all from Jackson High ($340 each)
