Redundancies, they are annoying

Speaking of grammar (Tuesday letter, “Dorn’s argument not presented well”):

We are wondering if the rules were changed when we were not looking! We have noticed, of late, an influx in the use of nouns modified by pronouns and verbs repeated in a sentence. We wonder if it is now proper to say: “Jim, he dresses well.” Or, “the question is, is that, why…?”

Some of our local commentators are driving us crazy with this repetition! You know who you are!
