Sutherland-Low race
Details left out of Herald story
Some details were missing from Jerry Cornfield’s article about the legislative race between Rep. Robert Sutherland, R-Granite Falls and Snohomish County Councilmember Sam Low (“Republicans choose sides with dollars in Low-Sutherland House race,” The Herald, April 18:
The 39th Legislative District PCOs voted to endorse Sutherland; to censure Low; and they asked Low to pull out of the race;
Not on the agenda, a resolution requesting that Low be censured circulated at the SCRP Central Committee meeting. No longer a quorum when it was finally addressed, a vote was not taken;
Was redistricting manipulated to pit Low against Sutherland? J.T. Wilcox saying that he is “not getting involved” is laughable;
If Sam Low is sent to Olympia while serving on the County Council, he’ll certainly benefit financially. But will his constituents benefit? Former Rep. John Koster warned him about the challenges of serving in both roles, effectively.
Low recruited and endorsed a Democrat in the upcoming Snohomish County prosecutor’s race. Let that sink in!
Yes, I’m sure the chair of the House Republican Caucus finds Sutherland a “challenge to deal with,” because he answers to the Constitution, his constituents and the platform. He doesn’t play party politics (go along, get along). Honoring the state and federal constitutions is the priority, not “honoring the institution!”
Anyone who doesn’t acknowledge widespread fraud, irregularities and illegal actions during the 2020 election is not paying attention. Without election integrity, we have no republic!
Why do “establishment Republicans” continue to push conservatives from the “big tent”? With Republicans so adamantly opposed to true conservatives, who needs Democrats?
