Josh Knowles took over as the Meadowdale wrestling team’s head coach this season after spending the previous 16 years as a Mavericks assistant.
“It’s been fun being the head coach. I’ve been able to put in a few new wrinkles,” he said. “(The regular season) was just about what we hoped for. We had a young team and dealt with injuries. Our younger guys got worn down at different parts of the season, and that was a struggle. I wish we had more depth to give the younger guys more time to adjust.”
Aria Zarei (132 pounds) will represent Meadowdale at this weekend’s Mat Classic XXX in Tacoma.
“Aria is super competitive, and he’s tough,” Knowles said. “Last year he fell one win short (of the state meet), and that fueled his fire for this year.”
