Honesty, integrity refreshing traits

The revealing last week of the source for The Washington Post’s Watergate expose’ has brought out many of that scandal’s membership in press interviews. Pat Buchanan, notably, is quoted calling Mark Felt a traitor and a snake. The essence here is that someone in government felt a moral duty to report, or guide an uncovering of illegal activity at the highest levels; a point evidently lost on many during most of these interviews.
Wouldn’t most of us like to think we can depend on elected officials to above all abide by a set of morals that most of us try to live by on a daily basis?
Standing up for honesty and integrity really should not feel as refreshing as it did in Watergate and the tobacco scandals; it should be expected, and encouraged whenever possible.
