LYNNWOOD — Spokane Valley food festival Crave! Northwest is putting down roots in Snohomish County.
On Friday night, the Lynnwood Event Center, 3711 196th St. SW, will be filled with foods from around the world. Those include flavors from Brazil, Sri Lanka and Liberia, among many others, Program Manager Rachael Ludwick said.
All-inclusive tickets start at $95 and doors open at 6 p.m.
Ludwick hopes the Lynnwood iteration will grow from one to three days. And she aims for it to become an annual event.
Ludwick said the goal is to foster community.
“Having everyone in one room together to see what each other is doing,” she said. “It just forms that camaraderie and it forms that community.”
The 21-plus event features a mix of local and non-local chefs and food makers.
Some guest chefs include Lynnwood resident José Garzón, who got his start borrowing an Edmonds restaurant’s kitchen. He operates several successful pop-up concepts in Seattle and runs Bad Chancla in Seattle, as well as Ethan Stowell, the internationally acclaimed Seattle chef who recently expanded his Victor Tavern concept into the heart of downtown Edmonds.
TV personality and former Hell’s Kitchen contestant Lauren Lawless will fly in from San Diego.
Founded in 2017, the JAKT Foundation is the nonprofit behind Crave!
Cofounded by chef Adam Hegstead, the foundation also organizes the Spokane Oktoberfest and the Spokane Valley Farmers Market.
Ludwick described Crave! as Spokane’s “food party of the year.”
“In Spokane, we have a country-themed night, which is like comfort foods. And then we have a foods from around the world,” she said. “And then the last night is smoking fire, which is cooking over open flame.”
The sold-out Spokane event lasts three days and attracts 800 attendees and 45 vendors.
