SEATTLE – University of Washington senior cornerback Jordan Murchison was absent from practice Wednesday, and Huskies coach Tyrone Willingham announced that Murchison had been charged with a felony, and that the player’s future with the team is unclear.
According to the King County Jail Inmate Lookup Service, Murchison was booked for failure to appear on a second-degree assault charge and is being detained with bail set at $10,000.
Those same records show Murchison having spent the night of June 5 in jail on an unspecified charge.
“We have a young man, Jordan Murchison, that has been charged with a felony,” said Washington coach Tyrone Willingham. “When I get more information, I will speak to his status with our team, but not until I have more information.”
Murchison had been at practice prior to Wednesday.
A fifth-year senior who transferred last year from City College of San Francisco, Murchison was expected to compete for a starting role in Washington’s secondary, which even with Murchison was an inexperienced group.
