Completely reimagined for the 2026 model year, Honda’s Passport TrailSport delivers a tru rugged design, authentic off-road capability, next-level versatility, and exceptional on-road performance, where is will live most of the time.
That’s saying alot. But the fourth-generation Passport with RTL, TrailSport and TrailSport Elite trims, delivers.
Our completely redesigned Passport redefines Honda rugged design and capability with tough new styling and substantially increased off-road performance for fun adventures without losing its everyday ride comfort,” said Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales. “We top that off with the new Passport TrailSport, a new halo off-road vehicle that is the ultimate validation of our TrailSport concept, created to fully express Honda rugged design and capability.”
My tester, the first-ever Elite trim blends TrailSport capability with luxury, featuring off-road upgrades like all-terrain tires, I-VTM4 all-wheel drive, off-road suspension, plus premium comforts like leather heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, Bose audio, TrailWatch camera system, wireless charging and Honda Sensing safety suite.
All Passports seat up to five adults in its two-row configuration, focusing on spaciousness for all passengers with ample cargo room, rather than adding a third-row, which makes it distinct from the larger Honda Pilot.
Every 2026 Passport features a new, more powerful, DOHC 3.5-liter V6 engine, paired with the model’s first 10-speed automatic transmission. The combo delivers 286 horsepower, is rated at a 5,000 pound towing capacity, has a 370-mile range, and is EPA-rated at 20 miles per gallon in combined city/highway driving.
Refined and responsive, the new high-strength automatic transmission has been tuned exclusively for Passport. This is also the first Passport to get the second-generation of the Honda torque vectoring i-VTM4 all-wheel drive system, which features a stronger rear drive unit with 40% more torque capacity and 30% faster response, optimizing traction in all driving scenarios, especially slick and off-road conditions.
For serious off-roading, Passport has increased ground clearance and a substantially shorter front overhang that provides an increased approach angle. At the rear, hidden exhaust tips are protected on the trail.
Passport’s exterior includes new front end with bold grille, long hood, and aggressive hood scoop. A new LED DRL signature includes distinctive amber lighting for TrailSport models. Flared fenders, wider tracks and 18-inch wheels with 31-inch tires on all Passports accentuate its powerful stance.
Other features include a gloss black grille, metallic silver front and rear skid garnishes, and TrailSport badging. LED fog lights are standard and mounted higher in the front fascia for additional protection on the trail. For the first time, TrailSport models are equipped with stout front and rear recovery points capable of supporting twice the weight of Passport.
Creature comforts are highlighted with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and phone charging, Bose premium audio with 12 speakers, panoramic moonroof, heated windshield and side mirrors, and 115-volt power outlet.
Honda Sensing highlights include collision mitigation braking, lane-keeping assist, road departure mitigation, traffic jam assist and adaptive cruise control.
