Lake Stevens’ pressure pays off

SHORELINE – Delvaugh Livingston-Tinned scored five of his 18 points in the fourth quarter to lead Mariner back from an 11-point deficit en route to a 37-36 Western Conference South victory over Shorewood Tuesday.

The Maruaders (1-1 league, 1-2 overall) outscored Shorewood 14-2 in the fourth quarter, including a clutch put-back by Tommy Craddock at the buzzer which allowed Mariner to capture its first victory of the season. Craddock finished with five points.

“Turnovers were a big problem for us, especially in the fourth quarter,” Shorewood coach Jeff Denny said. “We just didn’t take care of the ball. We shot the ball okay, but the turnovers prevented us from taking a lot of shots.”

Shorewood turned over the ball 21 times, a season-worst for the Thunderbirds.

“Mariner is a great team defensively,” Denny said. “They really forced our hand a lot. We knew it would be a tough game.”

Rob Diederichs scored 21 points to lead Shorewood, which plays division foe Meadowdale (3-0, 3-1) next.
