SNOHOMISH – One team came in looking for revenge. The other looking for a rebirth.
It was a Wesco North battle Friday night as Snohomish avenged an early season loss to Mount Vernon, handing the Bulldogs their third straight loss with a 63-61 boys basketball victory in overtime Friday night.
The Panthers led throughout the ball game until Mount Vernon’s star shooter, Justin Burns, knocked down two 3-pointers in the final minute, tying the score at 58-58.
Burns finished with 19 and hit three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.
Snohomish’s Grady Bone opened overtime with a 3-pointer, but the Bulldogs again bounced back, tying the score at 61-61.
That’s when Snohomish’s Jon Brockman did what he does best.
Brockman scored on a driving lay-in with three seconds remaining, giving the Panthers the 63-61 victory.
Brockman finished with 26 points and 20 rebounds.

Lynnwood’s Jeremy Rudd had a putback basket off an offensive rebound to tie the score with 1.9 seconds remaining in the first overtime. Jackson came from four points behind in the last 45 seconds of regulation to send the game into overtime. Drew Eisinger had 10 rebounds to go with his 13 points. Jackson’s Rory Wilson had eight rebounds.
