ARLINGTON – One more win. That’s all it’ll take.
The Meadowdale Mavericks boys basketball team won a loser-out Class 3A District 1 game versus the Everett Seagulls in overtime, 49-42, Friday night at Arlington High School.
The Mavericks now need one more win in today’s winner-to-state, loser-out game against the Squalicum Storm to secure a place at next week’s Class 3A state tournament at the Bank of America Arena in Seattle.
Friday’s game saw only two players score in double figures. Everett’s Brett Lund scored a game-best 21 points and hit five 3-pointers to try and keep the Seagulls’ playoff hopes alive.
But it was Meadowdale’s Milan Moncrief’s 18 points (five in OT) and his team’s 6-for-9 shooting from the free-throw line in overtime that propelled the Mavericks on to play one more game.
