STANWOOD — Detectives are investigating the suspicious death of a 19-year-old Everett man who was found early Monday in a Warm Beach home.
A young woman called 911 just before 5 a.m. to report she’d awoken to discover her boyfriend was not breathing, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
Deputies arrived to find the teen dead in a home in the 19300 block of 96th Avenue NW. There were obvious signs of trauma to his body, Hover said.
Detectives obtained a search warrant Monday to enter the home to conduct an investigation, Hover said.
The dead man’s girlfriend, who is in her late teens, lives in the home with her parents. Other members of her family were home when she called police.
During the investigation, police blocked the street in the community, which overlooks Port Susan and Camano Island. Officials worked under portable tents trying to keep dry during Monday’s persistent rain.
“It’s a great neighborhood and we haven’t heard any trouble at the house,” neighbor Laurie Donaldson said. “It’s just very sad and very traumatic.”
Hover said the death does not appear to be random.
“There is no indication, although we’re in the very early stages, that neighbors should be alarmed,” she said.
No arrests were reported by late Monday.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner was expected to perform an autopsy today to determine the cause and manner of the teen’s death.
