$22,000 worth of windows broken in Everett
A homeless man allegedly threw rocks through windows in seven stores.

The hole in the front window of Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop at 4019 Colby Ave. is large enough to fit two hands through. One crack extends all the way to the top of the pane, splitting the glass in two halves.
When Quan Vu, the nephew of the store's manager, saw the damage, he said he thought the store had been robbed.
"I was worried about a break-in," Vu said. "In this area at night, there usually are people hanging out."
A homeless man, 48, is under arrest after he allegedly threw rocks through the glass of more than a half-dozen large windows causing about $22,000 in damage.
Police started getting calls about the man about 3:40 a.m., Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
The man apparently was walking through Everett throwing large rocks through the glass of large windows, Goetz said.
Until the window glass is replaced at the ice cream shop, Vu has to leave the front door propped open for customers. Opening and shutting the door shook the broken window. Vu worried the window would fall apart while customers were inside, he said.
Replacing the glass will cost upward of $2,000, Vu said.
The hole in the window at a nearby Super Supplements vitamin store, 4031 Colby Ave., wasn't much smaller.
The damage nonetheless was a shock for manager Robert Rohder.
"I got a 3 o'clock wake-up call from the alarm company," he said.
Rohder kept the two baseball-sized rocks he found in the parking lot. It'll cost up to $800 to replace the glass, Rohder said.
"It's just terrible because there's no reason for it," Rohder said.
Goetz said detectives believe the man left the Everett Gospel Mission and made it as far west as Colby Avenue and 41st Street, breaking windows along the way. He then headed east, and was caught reportedly breaking windows at Everett Station. Security guards called police.
The man allegedly vandalized at least seven different business, Goetz said.
"There is a potential for more victims, and we're just waiting for calls to come in on those," he said.

The man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree malicious mischief, a felony.
