South Snohomish Chamber of Commerce cites 5 for excellence

LYNNWOOD -- Community Transit, Comcast, Community Health Center of Snohomish County and two small companies are this year's winners of business excellence awards from the South Snohomish County Chamber of Commerce.

The recipients will be honored at the annual HomeStreet Bank Business Excellence Awards luncheon on June 10.

The awards program recognizes businesses that exemplify community spirit, business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit, said Jean Hales, the South Snohomish County Chamber's president.

The recipients are:

Comcast, the nation's largest provider of cable television and other communication services, will be recognized for its work with organizations throughout the county to "enhance learning, help businesses grow and encourage leadership."

Community Transit's efforts to grow ridership of public transportation and the involvement of its employees in local communities will be honored.

Community Health Center of Snohomish County will be honored for providing health care to small- and micro-sized businesses and for working with other organizations to serve low-income residents.

Western Type & Print of Lynnwood and its owners, Warren and Flo Funnell, will receive an excellence award for their involvement with the city of Lynnwood, the Rotary Club of Lynnwood and the chamber of commerce.

Elle Marie Hair Studio in Mill Creek and its family owners, Colleen Buck, Lorry Green and Jody Bossert, are being recognized for combining effective business management and customer service to create a successful small business.
